On the 31st of January, thirteen years ago, SoulCalibur V was released in North America for the XBOX 360 and PS3.

Set 17 years after SoulCalibur IV, SoulCalibur V follows Patroklos and Pyrrha, the children of Sophitia, as they become entangled in the conflict between the cursed sword Soul Edge and the holy blade Soul Calibur. The game introduces new characters, a refined combat system with a faster pace, and the Critical Edge mechanic. While praised for its fluid gameplay and visuals, it received criticism for its lack of single-player content and the removal of fan-favorite characters.

After doing that drawing, I was inspired by this outfit that showed up on my dash one day cos I felt it gave off Casual Vampire Teacher vibes.

Now it's a mix between Casual Vampire Teacher and "I'm the host of a Vampire Masquerade Ball."

Fandom: Soul Calibur series Ship: Siegfried/Raphael Kiss Prompt: "...out of spite."

"Madness," growled the wandering knight, "absolute madness that you think I would let anyone else suffer the curse of this sword."

Siegfried, fighting against a new opponent on the road through a nameless forest, a Frenchman who so far as Siegfried could tell was utterly insane, had absorbed a few wounds from this man's dangerously fast and wickedly sharp rapier. At some point, Siegfried was sure he had heard the man speak his name, Raphael, but it was not the most important matter at the time, not when there was a skilled warrior who would easily fall to Soul Edge's influence trying to attack him. To his credit, Siegfried had also landed some choice blows with hands and feet, and also made a devastating swat in Raphael's side with the giant slab of metal he called a sword.

That didn't change that, despite what damage this Raphael had taken, Siegfried was still losing the fight. Clinging too hard to the ideal of showing mercy could very well cost him his life, but the stubbornness he inherited from his father was perhaps the only thing that would never leave him. A sidestep, a duck, a roll, and at one point repelling Raphael by glancing a thrust off of his blade, Siegfried paused to look at Raphael, the both of them taking a moment to catch their breaths, Siegfried on the defensive, Raphael looking for a moment to strike. With a manic smile coming to his face, Raphael dashed forward, his opportunity apparently seen. When Siegfried moved to sidestep it, it was too late for him to see the clever feint Raphael had pulled, leaving Siegfried wide open.

A thrust.

A scream.

Blinding pain shot through Siegfried's right arm as Raphael's sword sunk into his bicep and poked out of his tricep. He was pretty sure it had pierced the bone. "Foolish of you to think such a hopeless and dispirited warrior as yourself could ever rightfully be the guardian of a weapon so powerful as Soul Edge!" Raphael barked out. "I could never be so weak."

He yanked his sword out of Siegfried's arm, the pain of that jerking motion eliciting another scream, and wiped the blood off on Siegfried's white and gold stole when Siegfried fell to one knee. Feeling despair that his mistake was ultimately going to cost countless lives once Raphael took Soul Edge from him because he was too weak, Siegfried could only curse himself. Deeper inside, however, there was a burn that he could feel, the cinders of anger. Not the righteous fury one would expect of him these days, but indignation and a demand for satisfaction, old friends of his time from before he was possessed by Soul Edge. This conceited lunatic, this pompous, arrogant, reckless, barmy IGNORAMUS, would DARE-

Sure, one may have considered his motivations childish, but at that moment, why Siegfried was angry did not matter so much as that he remained angry, fiery willpower preserving him and his mission. Over his wounded arm, there suddenly danced blue and purple fire, and his flesh closed, all of the blood on him turning into dust and blowing away on the wind cast by his suddenly overwhelming aura. Raphael looked at him curiously and warily, but he was prepared for another attack being made at a more human speed, not the lightning-fast spring upward that Siegfried made, nor Siegfried's steel-covered fingers digging into his neck.

Siegfried's eyes burned like violet embers, but that was still not nearly so fierce of a blaze as his animus towards this cocksure bastard in his grip.

"Grrrgh... grrRRAAAAAAAGH!!!"

The flames on Siegfried's arm erupted as he roared, the force of them blasting Raphael out of his grasp and smashing him into a nearby tree. The impact left Raphael breathless, his sword cast aside on impact. Though the fire was gone, Siegfried's anger still smoldered in his gaze and his voice. He marched towards Raphael, who was still stunned by this display of power, not to mention being flung several feet through the air and smacking against a solid tree trunk and held him off the ground in one hand.

"Consider yourself fortunate that my old hunger has left me," Siegfried growled, "and my bloodthirst has been replaced with mercy. But you... you are too deranged to listen to reason. You will never give up, so long as you draw breath. And so, if I will have to suffer your existence, I will make sure you suffer mine as well, so deeply that I will not even have to be with you in body to burn in the back of your mind. I will haunt you, even more sorely than your greatest defeat, and it will all be your fault, as you will be the one to never forget me, no matter how you try."

Raphael opened his mouth to try and choke out a few bitter words in retaliation, but his eyes widened when Siegfried's lips met his, and his entire body went stiff as though Siegfried's kiss was the most potent, caustic, paralytic venom the world had ever seen. Siegfried held the kiss for only a few seconds, but that was enough to have made the impression he wanted; Raphael was speechless, and Siegfried was more than happy for that much. "Now you know how I fight, how I feel, how I sound, how I taste, and yet... you do not even know me, and never will get the chance again."

Putting Raphael down, Siegfried then roughly shoved him onto his back. "I hope I plague your dreams, and that you lose yourself knowing that you will never have me. Go home, do not follow me, and maybe find something to obsess over better suited towards your greedy pursuits than a sword that will bring ruin to everything you could ever want."

Siegfried knew that it was cruel of him to behave like this, but dammitall, he knew right off the bat that this man was going to be a thorn in his side, and since Siegfried wasn't the sort to dig the thorns out and cast them aside, he would just make that thorn regret sinking into him in the first place. As he walked away, Siegfried looked over his shoulder. "Then again, leaving either of us in peace would be too much to ask for from you, wouldn't it?" he sneered. He made a satisfied hum when he heard Raphael stand, grab his rapier, and walk in the opposite direction; sure, Siegfried would feel the guilt for succumbing to such pettiness later, but that could wait. The opportunity to indulge himself like this was too scarce for him to not savor it.

Even more outfit recreations! (I thought I had already made enough, but I was wrong)

I prefer Sophitia's Soul Edge 1p over her other 1ps, probably because it somehow reminds me of Xena and Wonder Woman (and both have ties to Greek mythology, what a coincidence), so I really wanted to make something similar in SC VI. The most difficult part to put together were her boots – there is only one pair that looks close, but they're too short, and I think the length makes a noticeable difference. I ended up placing some stickers on socks and colored socks close to her skin tone, but they are still not the same color. Still, it's the best that I could come up with, and ngl I like it. Fighting Cervantes on Indian Port sage in this outfit was fun.

Another costume from Soul Edge I like is her PS exclusive. It's unlike anything else she has in the other games, and it's just pretty. Still not sure about the hat, but for now I'm keeping this version. I would like if the tunic allowed for stickers though, because patterns are more difficult to place nicely.

Next is Maxi's 2p from SC III with some elements from other games. I liked two-colored pants and some robe on his upper body, but the black scarf doesn't stand out as much, so I changed it to red (not even my idea, I took it from Silvershire's video on Maxi's costumes). Also the shoes are closer to his SC II 2p because others would be more difficult to replicate.

The rest are just improved versions of what I put together before in this post. Raphael had very few changes – some stickers to give more texture to his red shirt, adjusted colors here and there, and I placed special equipment to resemble buttons.

For Ivy, I changed the upper equipment because this one has a corset, and adjusted colors again, so it looks closer to the original.

I added a belt, changed boots and colors for Tira's outfit. Plus gave her makeup that brings her closer to SC IV look.

With Cassandra's costume, I went for a full revamp. The first version was nice, but it still missed something imo, and then I figured what – the silhouette is a big part of why I like the original costume, and in my recreation it wasn't the same (plus that tunic doesn't allow for stickers). So I decided to change the top, and there is a good option in the inner body layer, the problem is that it takes off her tights. Still, I went with this one and placed a bunch of stickers to make it look similar to the original (stickers that change the texture of clothing are very useful for this). I also changed boots to short ones, picked a different neck equipment and chose tall socks to imitate her tights. And as a cherry on top, I let Cassandra's hair down because it looks cute with this.

in what way does stealing her memories and then turning her into his slave benefit him?

im tempted to think he only wants to mess with amy because he hopes that by angering raphael he will be able to turn raphael into the next nightmare who he can puppeteer. but like couldnt it also go the other way? like maybe hes messing with raphael in order to anger amy so that amy becomes easier to manipulate? but like in both instances

why? in what way does any of this benefit him 😭

(kinda piggybacking off my old ask but) AU where Amy and Tira’s roles are switched 👀

Send me a potential AU and I’ll tell you five fun facts that would happen in a story.

unlike amy, who does not remember her birth parents, tira is haunted by the death of her mother when raphael takes her in. in this AU, there are no split personalities, tiras personality is most similar to her "jolly" persona when she warms up to raphael

amy, as a bird of passage, had her stubbornness beat out of her while growing up and it more or less lays dormant inside of her. she is one of their best assassins

raphaels family/his political enemies employ the birds of passage to kill raphael after he escaped the guards and fled with/adopted tira. the more senior members proved unable so they called in amy to finish him off

raphael had sworn to protect tira but he couldnt bring himself to kill this child assassin so he did the next best thing, he adopted her too (whether she wanted it or not is a completely different story LOL)

amy eventually came to accept her new family but now that the birds of passage's target was still alive AND their best assassin having deserted them, the three of them constantly have to watch their backs. raphael teaches tira how to fight with a rapier and tira and amy often find themselves having to defend each other on the occasions raphael isnt around.

bonus snippet from this potential AU:

"Behind me, Tira," Raphael whispered, his voice urgent. He stood up and held aloft his rapier in one hand, the other shielding the small brunnette girl behind him. He cursed himself for assuming they would get to rest. If they made it out of this alive, he needed to figure out a shelter situation for them. Traveling like this, in the shadows and destitute, was no way to raise a child.

His eyes narrowed as a hooded figure finally made herself known, having dropped down from the tree tops. It was odd that she appeared so small. Her mouth was covered with mask, but her eyes appeared young. Young, but hollow.

"Your days of escaping your fate end today," the assassin said. "Surrender now, and I will spare you the humiliation of a sky burial."

Raphael lowered his blade somewhat, confused. "Rather young to be an assaaain, aren't we?"

The girl's eyes narrowed and she pointed her ringblade outward. "Mock me all you want, it won't save you."

He was torn. On one hand, he had sworn to protect Tira with all he had. But on the other, how could he cut down someone he could only assume was a small child in her own right? How did a child so young even find herself in a position to be hired as an assassin? He glanced down at the small hand that gripped his waistcoat. He put his own hand over Tira's, a silent gesture to reassure her, then looked back at the hooded child.

Raphael refused to kill her, but he couldn't let her return to her assassin's guild either. He would simply have to bring her with him, whether she wanted to come or not.

Raphael: "Scared yet, Fontaine?" Ezra, rolling her eyes: "Not really, Sorel. To be honest, I think this get-up is a perfect representation of your soul. Really tells everybody that you suck the life out of them." Raphael, offended: "Seriously?! I have fought my way to the cursed sword and have been turned into a creature of the night as a result! I sink my teeth into the neck of the pitiful people on a regular basis! You always were too realistic, too boring, and always found a way to kill my joy. Years ago, you laughed at the existence of the supernatural and anything you claimed only existed in children's stories. Perhaps the existence of Soul Edge and the Malfested made you laugh no longer, hmm?" Ezra: "...You're right, I should be trembling in my boots right now, wondering why a creature of the damned that could only exist in nightmares and horror novels is standing behind me and holding me in his grasp. It's funny how you mention the teeth in the neck thing, that was usually your go-to thing to do to me whenever we had our...ahem...get-togethers...back in the day." Raphael, letting her go to hide his face: "...you wretch...yes, it is true, but have you no shame saying something that brazen out loud?" Ezra, fixing her spectacles: "As long as you're you, Sorel...I have no shame." Raphael: "Neither do I, Fontaine...Neither do I..." Somewhere... Kasta, covering their face: "...Oh my god, they were exes...and nerd exes too." Amy, also covering her face: "...Disappointed, but not surprised..."

Debating on whether I want this to be a regular thing, but I thought it would be funny if Ezra and Raphael were exes from before the Evil Seed occurred (considering they're both French, around the same age, and nerds) and all they do now is roast tf out of each other.

But yeah, this was made to be a thing for an OC birthday for Ezra.

Also yes, I gave Raphael claws cos of the concept art for his Soul Calibur 4 outfit and...yeah.

Now, to find a way to fit this into my Into the Dark Night of the Soul AU.
